Super excited to jump into the discussions here. I’ve been working on my first few client campaigns recently, but whenever my family asks how my day went, I never know how to explain it without getting blank stares. How do you describe digital marketing to people who barely use social media?

Haha, I get this. I usually just explain it as helping a business get noticed online and reach the right people. Once I put it that way, it’s a lot easier to explain without getting too technical.

My family still gets confused when I try to explain it. I usually just tell them about the kind of things I’m working on, like creating content, checking ads, or figuring out what people respond to. That makes it easier than trying to explain digital marketing as a whole.

I feel the same way. It can be pretty hard to explain what I do to my family, even when it’s just a side job. They still seem confused sometimes when I try to explain it.

Same boat here. It can be pretty hard to explain what digital marketing actually involves when someone barely uses social media. I usually just explain the specific things I’m working on instead of trying to explain the whole job.

Yes, I can relate. Most of our work is done on a screen anyway, so it's hard to explain precisely what we do all day. Explaining the end result is easy, but describing the entire process is not. I think most people understand what we do on a general level, but they do not know the specifics.
