What’s your strategy for upselling at checkout without annoying the shopper?

I want to add a "Frequently Bought Together" bundle or pop-up offer right before checkout. How many upsell offers can you show before it causes cart abandonment?

I probably would just add 1 or 2 products on the same additional offer page. If there are too many products on the page, people will just skip it over. A targetted 1 or 2 additional items is not overwhelming or bothersome to read so you might get a higher rate from people buying the extra packages.
