What Marketing Task Did You Delegate Too Early?

Delegation can free up time, but doing it before a process is clear can create more rework. Which marketing task did you hand off too early, what broke, and what documentation or quality checks would you put in place before delegating it again?

I delegated UTM setup and landing-page QA before documenting the naming rules. Reporting quickly fragmented because similar campaigns used different source and medium values. Before handing it off again, I would provide a naming matrix, a pre-launch checklist, and one reviewer who verifies the final URL and conversion event.

Content creation is one I’d be careful with. It can seem easy to hand off, but if the person doesn’t fully understand the brand’s style and audience, you can end up spending more time fixing the work afterward.

I’ve had situations where handing something off too soon ended up taking more time to fix than just doing it myself. Now I prefer to make sure the workflow is already tested before passing it to someone else.

It can be a hassle, but I think it gets easier once you know exactly what you can hand off and what still needs your attention.

Probably, I delegated creating content too early. By personally creating content, I was able to understand my audience better. After I understood what resonated with them and why, I could delegate some parts of the process.

That makes a lot of sense. It’s interesting how doing the work yourself at the beginning can reveal things you might otherwise miss. What part of the content process do you think was the most useful to learn firsthand?
