What Should a New Marketer Track in Their First Month?

A first dashboard can become overwhelming when every platform suggests different numbers. If someone is running their first campaign, which few metrics should they track during the first month to learn quickly without chasing vanity data? I’d also like to know which metric beginners usually add too soon.

I would start with spend, qualified visits, one primary conversion, and cost per conversion, then annotate every meaningful campaign change. That is enough to connect activity with an outcome while the sample is still small. Beginners often add follower count or raw impressions too soon, especially when the campaign is not designed for awareness.

Start with spend, one primary conversion, cost per conversion, and the conversion rate for the landing page or funnel. Raw follower growth and broad impression counts can wait unless awareness is the campaign’s stated goal.
