If you had to choose, which one would you rather build your business around: a smaller group of loyal customers who keep coming back, or a larger number of one-time buyers?

Building genuine trust with customers can go a long way. A good experience can turn someone into a regular and even bring in new customers through word of mouth.

The profit margin would be worth looking at here. A hundred sales might look impressive, but if acquiring new customers costs too much, the business could end up earning less than expected. Sales volume doesn't always tell the whole story.

I think it also depends on the type of business. For example, someone who repairs laptops might have loyal customers, but they won't necessarily need the service every month. Some businesses naturally have fewer repeat purchases, so you have to look at what makes sense for that particular industry.
