An article that once performed well is now getting fewer visitors, even though the topic is still useful. Would you refresh the existing content to make it more relevant or publish a new article to attract readers?

I'd write a new article and reference the old one where it's relevant. Information changes over time, and keeping outdated details can affect the consistency and accuracy of the information readers receive. A new article gives you the chance to correct previous mistakes, include updated facts, and explore the topic from a different angle without completely replacing the original. After all, the goal is to keep your content reliable and consistent with current information, rather than continue circulating details that may no longer be correct.

I'd rather update the existing article and keep the original information as a reference so its value isn't lost. Readers need reliable, up-to-date information, and outdated details can make even a useful article less trustworthy. Keeping older content relevant also helps preserve the work that went into creating it in the first place.

Keeping the old article available while creating a new one can be a good strategy when the old content is useful for background or reference for the new information. When an article is edited or updated, there are a couple ways to show readers what changed, and listing both the original and the edited or updated article help readers put things in context. It helps show edits and changes, and it builds trust and transparency. People can also verify the original information instead of just relying on the changed or edited information.

I think keeping the original article is similar to how libraries keep older books even when newer editions are available. The updated version can be more visible since it contains the latest information, while the original remains available for reference. This way, readers can compare what changed and understand the context instead of relying only on the revised version.
