Pinterest Isn’t Just for Pretty Pins

@Isla Learned that the hard way last year. Cut off our main call-to-action on 50+ pins. 1000x1500 is the sweet spot. Bold typography, high contrast, zero fancy cursive fonts that AI OCR can't read.
@Jace Great point on typography. Modern OCR models struggle with handwritten script fonts. Clean, sans-serif, high-contrast text overlays always get indexed cleaner.

What about video pins? Everyone keeps claiming short-form video gets more impressions, but in my experience, outbound link clicks on video pins are terrible compared to static images.

@Isla You nailed it. Video pins get vanity views, but static images drive actual revenue and website traffic. People watch the video and stay on Pinterest; they click static images to read the full article.

@Jace So video pins are top-of-funnel brand awareness, static pins are performance marketing. Good distinction. Are you guys running any Promoted Pin campaigns alongside organic?

@Lisa We run retargeting ads on Pinterest for people who visited our blog via organic pins but didn't convert. The CPMs on Pinterest retargeting are insanely cheap compared to Meta or Google.

@Isla I need to set up that tag. Are you retargeting based on specific page visits or just general site traffic?

@Jace Specific category URLs. If they read a pin/article on "Kitchen Renovation," they get retargeted with a promoted pin offering our free Kitchen Planning Checklist lead magnet.

@Isla That funnel design is airtight. Relevant organic entry point -> contextual lead magnet retargeting. What's your average opt-in rate on those checklist offers?

@Lisa Averaging 14.2% opt-in on the landing page from those retargeted clicks. Because the intent was already established organically on Pinterest

@Isla 14.2% is ridiculous. I'm literally setting up the Pinterest Tag on our site tonight to map out custom audiences.

@Jace Don't forget to claim your domain in settings too! It gives your profile authority and attaches your logo/bio to every pin saved from your site.

@Lisa Yes! Claiming your domain is mandatory for domain quality scoring in Pinterest's algorithm. Unclaimed domain pins get suppressed in search results over time.

@Lisa Domain claimed, website verified! Quick question for both of you: how far in advance do you start pinning seasonal content (e.g., Holidays, Summer, Halloween)?

Minimum 45 to 60 days early. Remember, Pinterest is a planning engine, not a real-time feed. People search for Christmas decor in September/October.
